Tourmaline v. Indicolite

Tourmaline v. Indicolite

Paprok, Afghanistan

8.8 x 6.8 x 3.5

Indicolite is a variety of tourmaline that is a deep blue in color.  This specimen was one of the very early discoveries from the Paprok area.  It has a supporting cast of quartz and "sidecars" of smaller indicolite crystals.  This specimen was once owned by James Horner, the American composer, conductor and orchestrator of film scores including The Titanic.    This specimen moves from the deep blue to the deep green to the very light pink near the termination.

A specimen of distinction and history.
